Oral Health Care in the Time of Covid-19 Pandemic
The National Oral Health Month is about to end, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share some tips on oral care when Dr. Marie Syjuco guested on Clinica Flavier (on One PH, Cignal TV) last February 21. Dr. Syjuco joined TV hosts Dr. Jondi Flavier and Marga Vargas as she answered some questions about dental care during the pandemic.
Safety first, all the time. It's been a year already since our lives have drastically changed because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Oraderm is proud to adhere to all safety protocols to give our patients their peace of mind when they visit the clinics at our Corinthian Hills and E. Rodriguez Sr. branches. All our dentists and staff are properly wearing their personal protection equipment (PPE). Aside from aerosol suction & air purifiers, our windows are opened after every procedure to allow a change in air flow in our confined space. We always make sure our patients and staff's well-being is our priority.
The first line of defense is your mouth. We all know that our body benefits from the nutrients of the food that we consume. What we tend to overlook is that our mouth and teeth manifest health conditions – gum disease has a direct connection with diabetes and heart ailments, for example. This is the reason why oral care is most important in our daily lives. With the ongoing pandemic, boosting one’s immune system is essential and having an unhealthy mouth will compromise this.
It is highly encouraged that you visit your dentist to have your bi-annual cleaning and have treatments done. A new condition known as “mask mouth” has arisen because of the constant use of masks. There has been an increase in gum diseases, tooth decay, bad breath and dry mouth brought about by prolonged use of mask. It is best that you get to consult with our dentists so that we can address these concerns early on.
Oraderm goes digital. If you still have some questions on oral care, you may also want to schedule an online consultation before you proceed with the actual treatment. This is another option for you, should you find it difficult to leave your homes during the pandemic.
You can still catch Dr. Syjuco’s interview on the show’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
We look forward to seeing you soon at Oraderm!
